I think it's just a decrative piece, you can remove it with some screws. just remember to take the captive nuts off so you can put it back on if you decide to put it back on at a later date

leave it on there, If you hit something underneath

let it be that and not your front end.

If you hit something hard I don't think it will put up much of a fight to be honest.

Trust me...that plastic thingy does nothing. Lost mine right away. Made for a better approach angle...which is a good thing.[sm=trust_me.gif]

i think its ther to help direct the wind further down, so the oncoming air is directed lower to the ground at high speeds, to keep the air from wrapping under the bumper and geting restricted on the parts under ur truck

hehehe... I got a 3/4 ton QC CTD.
I too improved my forward approach angle the quick way. Fastest way to remove that little plastic bumper piece is to try and climb a pile of shale a little too steep. Pops off in seconds! hehehe

actually, it does have a purpose. It's a air dam that makes the air go further down below the vechicle, allowing less air to get under the vechicle at high speeds, decreasing wind resistance against parts under the truck, and decreasing the lift generated by such. Doesn't make much difference, but you might notice the vechice isnt quite as stable as before.

I think it's purpose is more cosmetic than anything else. It's there so you can't see so much of the crossmember and such.
