Default My rear differential is shot

The dealer has had my truck for 4 days now and I could not get a straight answer from them over the phone, plus they never call when they say they will, so I decided to stop in today. As some of you may know from some of my previous posts that Ive been getting a sound under acceleration. Similiar to the "blowing over a empty bottle" sound. The dealer told me that they replaced the drive shaft, u joints and they were messing with the transfer case for some reason. And the sound persists.
So, the mechanic told me that they are going to rebuild the diff under warrenty cause one or some of the clutches may be shot. Now, Ive only had the truck less than a month. I bought it used from the dealer with 40,000 miles and ive only driven it about 1000.
Has any of you guys had a similiar problem with the 1500 diff? My fear is that they arent going to seat the pinion depth right or lash the ring gear and the thing is gonna howl. Then I can hear the saying "thats the normal rear end sound sir" and Ill probobly blow my fuse.

From what I have learned on here... the lsd on the rams crap out after as low as 30k miles from the c-clips comming loose or something .... idk though I am no expert. But its normal because its a known problem with our trucks. good thing you have a warranty

Well its not the "C" clips that's failing. Its the "CLUTCH PACK" retaining clips on the factory LSD that fail. So if you can talk them into installing an aftermarket AUBURN or Detroit True track instead of the factory CRAP LSD then you would be better off. Sure you would have to pay for a new rear diff... but it would be well worth the investment.

I had my rear diff go out on my truck at 75,000 miles.

Oh yea, biggest topic on ANY Dodge truck forum (well except for the new one of "how can I get better gas mileage, wah, wah, wah") is the crappy LSD they put in their trucks. Have been grenading for years due to c-clip failure. Won't recall it, and from what I understand, at least through the 06s won't put a better one in there.
It's actually pretty good that it's lasted 40k miles before doing in the diff.
As long as they have someone experienced at doing it, you should have no problems...

Do the 08's still use this crappy design? I have the lifetime powertrain warranty, but prefer to drive my truck, not having the rearend overhauled every 30k to 40k miles.
A LS unit should outlast the spark plugs!!
