My buddy needs help with his 04 1500

Sounds the same as the second gens. The fuel in the tank actually cools the fuel pump once the fuel drops below 1/4 the pump is no longer submerged enough and starts to heat/act up. Sounds like the pump is on it's way out. I know some people were recommending always keeping your fuel in the 2nd gens above 1/4 tank especially in hot weather.

Also for any of these new cars never run it below 1/4 of a tank. The fuel cools the pump so if theres no fuel there goes the pump. I try to keep my truvk above 3/4 of a tank, why, I really don't feel like spending $100 to fill up everytime so I only spend $40 to fill a quater tank.
