Default My buddy needs help with his 04 1500

Hey guys, I have a buddy that has a 2004 QC 1500 with the 5.7 HEMI, a little while back his ex-wife ran it completely out of gas. He say every since when it gets down to about 1/4 of a tank it starts to shutter on acceleration but he says it only does it at 1/4 and below. Any more than that and it runs fine. The only advice I could give him was NOT TO LET HIS EX DRIVE THE TRUCK ANYMORE!!! I thought maybe yall could help. Thanks

It could also be the crap at the bottom clogging the fuel filter causing the flow to slow. When the tank is full there is enouh fuel in there where the sloshing around leaves more fuel and less sediment clogging the filter..

So maybe he should try changing the fuel filter first and if that doesn't work check into the fuel pump?

Throw a new fuel pump module on there and call it a day. It's about that time anyway and better to do it on your terms in your driveway then wait till it goes out and you're on the side of the road.

These are like older rams with no external filter right? Just the module in the tank with the pickup pump and filter?

Yessir. Get a dodge one, it's better to pay a little bit more and have it last a while longer. Keep the fuel lever over 1/4 tank the pump will last much longer.
