Default Big Horn Gearing

I've heard somewhere that Big Horns are geared differently than non big horn models... Is this true?

Nope.... It's either gonna have 3.55s or 3.92s. Most Big Horns have the tow pkg and 3.92s, but it's no sure bet. Many insist that you automatically have 3.92s with the tow package, but I've seen the factory tow come with 3.55's too.

I think the 3.92s are supposed to be part of the package, but I've seen so many big horn/lonestar/thunder road packages that were missing stuff that I wouldn't think all big horns would have 3.92s

Yep, I guess it's a line item when dealers order it, so if you don't like "check the box" for 3.92s, even though you order a tow package, you don't get it. Like I said, at one time I thought ALL trucks with factory tow had it, but I was proven wrong time & again.
I have a buddy down the street, used to be a member here, with an '06 QCSB Hemi 4x2, Thunder Road w/factory tow, has 3.55's...

i would think it's standard.. i think when you select the 20" wheels it automatically throws on 3.92 gearing. as well as tow package.. that's waht my dealer told me when i said i wanted the 3.92 when i was ordering they said it was included with the 20" and tow pkg and on my window sticker sure enough 3.92 is on there.

You would think so but I can walk two houses away and see that '06 with 20" wheels, with the Hemi, with the factory tow and the window sticker, glove box sticker and axle all confirm he has 3.55's. Oh and to this day, he's not a happy camper about it...

So the 3/4 ton must come with the 3:73's with the tow pkg because that is what mine is...?

Yup, 2500's are standard with 3.73s and optional 4.10's.
Personally I like the 4.10's with the Hemi but the 3.73s are all you need with a CTD because they have the low end torque to not need the gearing for grunt...
