Revamping the Exhaust on my Ram
Currently my exhaust is all stock on my 4.7L ram QCSB except for the Flowmaster 50 Series DOR exahust but here is kinda what I was thinking about doing next year. I am going to start off by putting in a Volant CAI or K&N FIPK and probably upgrading to a 70 or 72mm throttle body. Next is going to be the headers. The question I have is which would be better for performance overall, going with JBA shorties or going with Gibson standard length. Next would be running magnaflow free flowing oval cat's on the truck and switching for the H-pipe to a X-pipe. I would run the X-pipe into a 4x8 dual in/out magnaflow stainless steel muffler and obviously the rest is just pipes. My question is do you guys think this is a powerful set up or is there something else that you would add in or change to produce more power? Also will switching to all of these free-flowing items play games with my O2 sensor or PCM? And then would I still be able to pass emmissions tests if I did this? Also how much does a X-Pipe usually run? Any other advise would be great. This should be a great sounding exhaust system, but best yet a very unrestricted one that will greatly increase my power.

I to have some questions about the x pipe and would like to know if the exhaust set up would be good or not. I have been reading a lot on here lately and I am curious about the back pressure of the hemi. Doesn't the hemi need some back pressure to perform like it suppose to?
Some general header info:
Long tube headers really only make a difference if they are equal length, if not, shorties are just as good.
Long tube equal length 4-into-1's will make breathing on the top end better, not really noticeable on low-end torque, and may actually soften your low-end torque.
Tri-Y headers (4-into-2-into-1) will boost low end torque. Doug Thorley has been making them for years.
Ceramic coatings are a good thing to invest in. They help the headers last by inhibiting corrosion, and they also help power production by keeping more heat in the exhaust, instead or radiating it all out underhood.

shorty headers will likely be a negligible gain. for the biggest gains, you want long tube headers like OE and UP said, standard size may get you something. The longer headers will cost you some low end torque, but will give you a bigger high end bump.
to keep your mid range, keep the stock cats, to keep the backpressure like Jay said. Hammer (he'll chime in soon) was able to do this with his pacesetter long tube headers just by moving the stock cats back 18" or so. the magnaflow cats will get you more power, but will also move your power band to higher up rpms, just like the headers. if that's what you want, they will do a great job.
x-pipe is a good idea, but i've heard nothing but bad things about di/do mufflers. go 2 si/so if you're going to do all this.
with the stock cats you will be fine for emissions (though you will have to extend the wires to relocate them). in theory the magnaflow cats should pass emissions as well, but don't remember hearing about them.

I was thinking about going with an x pipe and aftermarket cats. I thought about leaving it like that or should I put a si/so on each pipe?

That is all well and good but the only problem is that I haven't found LT headers for an 05 4.7L Ram. I have only found the Gibson headers the JBA shorties availible for my truck. If you guys can find LT headers please let me know. And if I have to go with two single in/out should I stick with the magnaflows of go to an AT 3030? Which would flow better the AT 3030 or the Magnaflow and how loud would they be. I have a Flowmaster 50 series and I like the sould inside and outside the cab and don't want it to be too much louder.
