Default Superchip 3815- Rev limiter

I got and installed the superchip 3815 on my 08 hemi 5.7L and was expecting big gains as ive been reading on the forums. After installing I have noticed very small gains if anything out the gate and gear shifts, improvement but im not sure worth the money as of yet. Now I know its working because I ripperd down the road and it went past the old speed limit with ease but I was expecting some good hard shifting which im not noticing and improved throttle response which im not really noticing yet. I set the speed to 140mph, the rev limiter to 6300rpm, the 1-2 wot to 5700 and 2-3 wot to 5800 and chose the 91 performance tune.

Does it all take a while to kick in or is the superchip gains over exgarrated on most forums?

Second question I have and I was hoping this was gonna be fixed with the chip. When im in park I can only rev it up to 4k rpm and then at that point I can put it to the floor and it will just sit at 4krpm and sound like crap. Now its for protection I know that but I just installed an expensive exhaust system and id like to rev it up and hear the natural sounds as opposed to the muffled sounds of hitting the 4k limit. Doesnt the superchip have anything for this or is supposed to erase that?

Third and final question, the instruction book doesnt really say anything about online updating, this 3815 chip was brand new in box so I assume its never been online or updated, is there updates online some where that would improve the enhancments more?

thanks

First, the rev limiter while in park. The answer is no you can not do anything about that. No programmer does. It is a safety thing and the mfg of the programmers will not mess with it.

Second, the online update. You should have updated the programmer prior to installing any tune. Reason is that it comes set as a standard tune for I think '05 to '08's. When you go online, it will ask for your info and update your tuner as needed. Short answer is yes your tuner has and needs the update. This could be one reason why you don't feel alot from it. Set your truck back to the stock tune, update the programmer, and then reload the premium tune.

Last, even with the updated tune, you still won't feel a huge gain from a stop. You can thank dodge and their great torque management system for that one. the tuner will work best at WOT. You will feel everything across the board improve slightly, but more so at WOT. You still will feel the hesitation between shifts as well, but you should feel a slightly smoother shift while driving.

As far as worth the money, yes it is. Drive the truck for 3 months on the tune. Then set it back to the stock tune for a day and drive it. You will be in shock.

It's recommended you do the update before you even install it, but it won't hurt anything that you didn't, you just may not be getting all the latest benefits.

For the updates, go here and do exactly what it says, a simple 5 step process:
http://www.superchips.com/update_your_tuner.php

As far as performance goes, you should be getting the same HP & Torque gains we see, but I don't think the shift points and firmness are optimized yet. They just added the feature to the '07s not long ago. You may have to just wait a few months to have ALL the benefits of the tuner. You can always go to there forum and ask.

L&R is right though, drive it on performance tune for a few weeks, then put it back to stock - IT WILL SUCK. I've returned mine to stock twice to let friends with Hemi trucks "try before they buy" and once to try it on my '02 Grand Cherokee when they started supporting the 4.7 H.O. I hated driving my truck all three times, the tranny felt like a wet sponge and even with my 4.56 gears it seemed like the Hemi was laboring to turn my 35" tires...

Thanks for the response, ill do your suggestions tomorrow after work, damn midnight shifts are a killer. The shifting is weird, it stills drags i think where as others say they install it and are amazed at how firm the shifts are. Today was the first time ive driven it in 2-3 days so maybe im just not remembering the stock feel lol.

Thanks

The '07s and '08s are still getting tweaked by the calibration team. It's possible that thing could have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for months, you may have only been getting a fraction of the tune you have now after the update...
