Transmission Question
I have a 06 Ram 1500 and I am having an issue and was wondering if anybody else is experiencing the same thing.
My truck used to be a daily driver, but when my son went off to college i decided to use his truck to keep the miles off mine. I now use my truck for the weekend trips and anything I need to do after work.
Now that you have the background, here is the issue. Whenver I start it up and put it into gear when it has been sitting around for a few days, it takes it a good minute or so before the transmission wants to move. If I put it right into gear after starting it up the engine will rev up and the truck will not move. I have to let it sit there before I put it into gear. The fluid level is dead on. One it starts going there is not an issue with slipping or anything like that. I have not taken it to the dealer yet because I want to make sure the problem keeps duplicating itself before I go in and have them tell me there is nothing wrong. I have been a mechanic for years, but this one has me puzzled.
Let me know if anybody out there is having any kind of similar issues or if you have had to take yours in for service.
UPDATE: I took it into the dealer and was told there was nothing wrong. I had the service advisor come out with me and start the truck up and drive it. The service advisor had the same issue I did. Long story short: They changed the fluid and filter and as of this time the problem has not re-occured.
