Two-Way radios/Emergency lights
I got a new Ram 1500 QC 4x4 hemi, I was wondering if anyone has had problems with installing radios and lights? If so what was it? I’m going to put the new Whelen led hide-a-ways in the tail lights , the 400 series led (4”x4”) in the grill and a Talon in the front and rear windows. Also a 110 watt low band and a 40 watt UHF. All of my stuff is going to be professionally installed the guy that does it has done all of my vehicles and all the trucks for the Fire House, I’m just worried about problems with the Dodge warranty if I have electrical/computer problems down the road. Thanks for any help

Hey, I used to be an installation tech for an emergency lighting company, while I'm not sure about the warranty, I'd say that more than likely it would void it because the parts would be considered "modified"and the work done by someone other than Dodge personnel, as for problems, I'm not sure if a ram is the same but we did an install on some 07 Durango's and learned the hard way,DO NOT take out the seats as doing so will kick on the airbag lights, and it cost a pretty penny to have a dealer shut them off, only for them to kick back on..hope this little bit of info helps..and good luck

I'm sure people on this board have removed their seats with no ill effects. It's never been mentioned that it was a problem before, and somebody would have noticed that by now.
If you don't plug in the sensor for the weight sensor in the passenger seat, I could see it triggering the airbag light.

I own a company that services public saftey veicles. When I install radios, we use something called a Mini Fuse Add-A-Circuit. With this you remove OEM fuse, Insert this devise in the fuse position you just removed. Now the add-a-circuit has two fuse positions, one for the original fuse and one for the radio or lights you are adding. This does not void the warranty as it does not tap into a wire and does not splay the fuse pannel
Can puchased at several places on line example: http://store.42draftdesigns.com/Mini...t_p_27-65.html

What is really screwed up in my mind is that Dodge on vehicles such as the Dakota, Dodge does not provide accessory power ( power on without engine running) unless you order the vehicle with a tow package. I have to check my 2008 RAM, just puchased it see if its the same way.
That Ford company is even worse, you have to dissassemble the dash and look for a loose pink wire with a LITTLE sticker that says #61 on it.
So I may bitch about Dodge Engineers, but they are better than the half baked stoners that design Ford.
