you need to have a torsion bar front end to be able to crank the torsion bar bolts. I think that was only for a couple years they had that before going to spring front ends, 04-05 i think.
close but t-bar front ends are 02-05 1500 4x4's...

If anyone is thinking of doing this I have a "lifting your truck 101" stickied on top of the off-road section. Give it a quick read...

measure gap form top of tire to wheel well, stick jack under front crossmember, raise whole front end 3-4 inches, shoot some oil on bolts, turn each about 3-4 turns, drop truck, jump up and down on front bumper, get off, measure gap from top of tire to wheel well.

satisfied? - get an alignment.

not satisfied? - stick jack under front crossmember...

tighten, and don't be surprised if you tighten both the same amount and have a different amount of lift on each side. Same size bolts, same keys, same torsion bars. Can't explain why, but it happens. Measure well and you may have to "fine tune" a couple of times to get the lift just right and equal on both sides...

I got carried away on mine and cranked them almost all the way. To me, I like the little bit stiffer ride. It just makes the truck feel more solid. I hate the mushyness. JUst get new shocks. My truck has been perfectly fine since.

Well to update, I went ahead and did it last night. To begin with the passenger side was about a half inch higher. I did both sides 5 turns and it brought it up just under two inches. I am in classes all day today so tomorrow I will go back and fine tune to try and make them exactly the same.

All in all I think the truck looks great with this done. Really makes it look bigger and looks way better now that it doesn slant down towards the front

I can think of a couple things that might be it. One torsion bar can be more worn out than the other, they are, after all, jsut torsional springs, they do wear out a bit. Might be just from hitting more potholes on one side. Might be more resistance on the a-arms on one side where they are mounted.

RAM_05, now don't be a dick like mmstar (that's right, i said it). I don't know how to do it, but adjust the headlights down so you aren't blinding people. had a sedan prior to my truck and it was the most annoying and dangerous thing when i got blinded by trucks.

glad to hear you like the mod though. I can't do a damn thing that'll add more than an inch to it due to clearances in places i go

I also had a sedan before this too I know exactly what you are saying about the lights haha.

Also just a small side note. If I were to get into this truck one day when before they were cranked and another when I didn't know the torsion bars were cranked, I don't think I would really notice the difference in the ride.

When I did mine I had someone standing there measuring the height of each side so I wouldn't have to keep getting under the truck, cranking, getting back out, measuring, getting back under....... You get the point, it just saves a lot of time having a helper.
