Default about to buy a HEMI

I don't know if this is the right place or not... but I'm about to buy 2004 RAM 1500 4X4 HEMI with 12K miles. I was wondering if you guys can tell me any pros and cons about this truck. I've always wanted a RAM, especially a HEMI!!! Now I have enough money to buy one. Since I don't know anything about Dodge trucks, I would like to know all the info you all know/experienced about it. Any recall, tsb's, weakness, rust, leaks, etc. Just any information would be great! TIA

Just bought an 04 Ram Hemi Sport. Great truck. You will not be dissapointed. Great in the snow. Only downside is the mileage. But, you should expect that buying a big 8 cyl. Passes everything but a gas station. All those horses sure are thirsty. GOod Luck, and if you can't Dodge it, RAM IT!

I've got almost 13K on mine now and we love this truck. It's great to drive, kicks butt on the road, tows the hotrod, fun to drive, and very comfortable. But it is thirsty for sure. My average mileage is 16.5 MPG city and HWY combined. Best HWy mileage was 21.2 MPG.

I've got an '03 Quad Cab 4x4, and my mileage runs mid 13's routinely. It's better than my '89 Ram did, and if it's mileage your after, you shouldn't be looking at a full size 4x4 truck anyway. The mileage is pretty comparable to most full size 4 wheel drive trucks. I've got over 28K on mine, and only ever had one problem. The message light display in the center of the instrument cluster went south, and they had to replace the entire gauge cluster to fix it. Was under warranty, of course. There has been some talk about valve springs being problematic in this engine, but I havn't personally had the problem. Overall, I've been very satisfied with mine. Good luck, and let us know what you decide.

Yeah, I'm goint to check it out today and tomorrow. I used to have an old 1990 chevy with 350 in it so I know how 12mpg is. I really wanted a Laramie, but it seems a little to high(money) to me. But the one I'm looking at is $23000. Which I don't think it's too bad for 2004 Hemi SLT(1500), 4 dr, 4X4 with 12k miles on it. Does that seem fair? It's got all the basic power options (window, locks, seats) and I think it has LSD or the anti-skip diff as Dodge calls it. I just want a solid truck with power. I always thought the Rams looked nice and hell...it's got a HEMI! What do you think?

hell yea bro!!! Buy it!! I have an 04 and LOVE it!! The milage is crap but its a big V8, exhaust and CAI will help a lil bit. As for the "terrible thrust" that will be fixed easily by a Superchips when they are released. It might be a tad bit slower off the line but it takes off after about 20. Mine is plenty fast for me! I also suggest checking out www.hemitruckclub.com there is a butt load info over there about HEMI Rams and nothing else lol.

If you want some better throttle response look into a Jet chip i put one in mine and its frickin awesome, the only thing i dont like about is it has a rev limiter that kills it at 4k so you cant hear the growl it has.
