Axle temp.
I have a 9 1/4" rear end and have just installed a new Detroit TruTrac junking the old stock crappy LSD and it's retaining clip problems.
It's had all new bearings, pinion seal etc and new oil.
I have 100 easy miles on it at the moment and babying it.
What I'd like to know is, how hot does the pumpkin get, if you do 15-20 miles at 60 mph?
Obviously stuff is still "bedding in" but, when I place my palm on the stock diff cover, it's very hot to the touch.
It has not had the gears replaced, just what's mentioned above.
I don't know how hot the old stock LSD and diff got.
So any help comparing it to a stock LSD would be appreciated.

Well, over here in the UK is was like £200 quid sterling.
At todays exchange rates, that would be like $353.
Don't know how that compares to fitting prices in the USA but, finding someone over here with the necessary experience of these Dodge Axles in the UK, is worth the money.
He also replaced the pinion seal & crush sleve along with axle bearings and caps etc
I got the DTT from Moe's Performance........hats off to Bob at Moe's here. Excellent service and a great price!
The axle appears to be "bedding in" fine and I must say, the truck feels VERY smooth to drive.
None of that shuddering from moving off or at slow speeds around corners that the old clutch pack LSD used to do.
