Recently I took the initiative to mod my dash. I was getting very tired of the stock radio and wanted a navigation. The only problem was the 1.5 din. I search all over this forum and other web sites and could not come up with a bezel that is purchasable. So i took it upon myself to completely redo the dash. Here are a couple of pics



Just used some fiber glass to cover the entire hole for the stock radio

i drew over the fiber glass and tried to center the cardboard template. as you can see its very dusty so were a mask and cut the fiber glass outside (the dust particles are very dangerous). i used a dremel and a file to cut the exact size of the navigation.



Completion of cut out. I also scuffed the surface for the bondo to stick to the plastic.



this was my crappy bondo work. i was getting very irritated with this stuff (i have never used it before). It would not stick, would dry to fast and then once it dried, it just cracked right off. At this point i took it to a local paint shop where a guy i new worked at (Turks Collision in Illinois). He works with plastics all the time and had no problem prepping, priming and painting this for me. $120 and two days later it was done and ready for me to install.



This was not exactly the final product. I installed this right after i got it. Three days later the paint started to get bubbles in it. I brought it back to Turks Collision and he took care of it. Im not exactly sure what he did but it wroked.



As you can see to the left of that red fuzzy thing, I had to cut that entire piece of plastic out (You'll no what im talking about if you ever take off your radio bezel).



This was the final product.





Custom Radio mounts. Very simple to fabricate.



Now below my navigation, i had to cut out a lot of plastic. This plastic was there for the stock radio to rest on while it was mounted. For me to cut this I had to take out a lot of my dash. This included my glove box, gage cluster, cup holder and bunch of other stuff.




This is a blurry picture but I had to use a couple of washers to get the navigation to fit right. I used fiver washer on the top and four on the bottom screw holes.




The unit installed with bezel.



I installed the gps antenna in the center hole made for the 2.5" center speaker



Put the mic on the driver side pillar



Installed the HD radio tuner under the streeing wheel



Since i had my dash completely out, i decided to install some 3.5" infinity speakers





I still am going to clean this up but havent gotten a chance yet. Pioneer Premier TS-SW1241D shallow mount sub (sounds really good) with a Pioneer GM-5000T amplifier.



Haha i put the carpet on the wrong side of the board, it was late and decided i will deal with it another time.

And thats all i got. I would definitely recommend the AVIC F90bt for a navigation unit. this thing does every thing. Some people have had trouble with it and like me others have not. Go to avic411.com to understand what im talking about. Also on that web site gives directions on bypassing the video, so you can drive and still have all functions functionable.

congratulations dude. honestly this is one of the first really really good fabrications of a double din bezel i have seen. so many ppl just takea hacksaw to it and say "look at me i'm cool" you actually took the time to do it right and it looks great man


and how do you like the F90? I have used a f900 and it seems nice but I want teh 90 for teh 4 v preouts which make hooking up a amp for sub and amp for 4ch so much cleaner and gives you much better Sq
