Angry MPG Final Answers for 4.7L

Alright Guys and Girls,
I want some answers from people with tested results for better mpg on the 4.7L. I have added a Magnaflow exhaust single exit, AEM CAI, Jet Stage 1 chip, Tune Up, Synthetic Oil from day one, and I still only get less that 13mpg combined. Never more that 14.5 on the highway and 10-12 in the city. I have an 04 Quad Cab 4x4. I am almost ready to break down and buy a 2wd Tacoma unless someone comes up with a reasonable answer. I am going to swap out my O2 sensors but I don't think they are even bad. What recommendations are out there without spending an arm and a leg. Lower gearing, etc. Or do I just buy a newer truck and not spend the money.

Before you buy a 2wd Tacoma, look into a 2wd 2008 QC Ram instead. My wife is a lead foot and she rarely dips below 15mpg. I can get 20 mpg in steady highway driving. The new 4.7 is stronger at 315hp too, although I don't know what year you have.

The number 1 thing is your driving!!!! You have to really baby it! Try for one tank to never go over 2000 rpms, and I mean never! I have the hemi in mine, but I was getting around 14.5 in town, and now that I never get over 2000 rpms, I am getting around 16 in town.

I baby the truck 98% of the time. Driving is not the problem.

Have you cleaned out your throttlebody at all?

My 02 Ram QC 4x4 4.7 got that same kind of mileage and I had a K&N CAI, Magnaflow exhaust and Superchips. I traded it in for my 07 Ram QC 4x4 5.7 and get 14-15 city and 20-21 hwy and I dont baby anything.

I have an '08 1500 2WD Quad and have been averaging around 15-15.5 w/80% of it city driving. On a fresh tank of gas and immediately hitting the highway, I can get around 18-19mpg cruising, and even flirted with 20mpg when I had a long ride ahead of me.

First off I haven't heard anything good about that jet chip although mines a hemi not the 4.7. Give us some more info on your truck, is it lifted? Tire size? If you're driving a tank expect it to get the same mileage as a tank... Besides your driving habits, tires can really suck the MPGs out of your ride.

my 08 gets about 22mpg or so cruisin on teh highway and anywhere from 16 to 14.5 mpg maybe 14 at the lowest in the city. that is very dependent on my driving. normal driving maybe 15 15.5 or soish. really babying it 16 and if i'm feeling perky 14ish lol. which doesn't bother me one bit. i still get what the EPA said for the highway in the city with this truck which is hilarious lol. and it gets better fuel mileage than my 97 jeep wrangler i traded in on this thing lol. and that had a POS 4 cylinder.

My 02 4.7 QC 2WD got 15-16 MPG around town and 21-22 MPG on the highway. Traded it for a 07 4.7 QC 2WD (Identical truck) and this thing S**ks gas. 13-14 MPG around town and 18-19 on the highway. Don't know what they did to it but my driving habits have not changed. If anything I am easier on it and it doesn't get any better. Should have kept the old one and put the money into it and still have money in my bank account.
