New guy here, but pro comp has a 6in suspension lift for the 2wd 08's. Just went to 4 wheel parts and the setup would cost just under $4,000. That's with the 6in lift, 18" Rockstars, and 35" Pro Comp xtreme ATs. They have a deal going on right now on free installation. (It's really only $500 off the labor cost). That's also with no warranty on the parts. I think they said it was a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty for around $249. I'm seriously considering this. Like a christmas present but to myself. Nothing wrong with that. But i'll keep you posted.

Not a fan of lifted 2wd but it's your truck do what you want to with it. I just think the amount of money you would spend on a suspension lift on a 2wd you could have basically just bought a 4wd and installed a leveling kit.

owning a 4x4 truck would still be more expensive.

- heavier, so gas consumption is more $
- insurance is higher on a 4x4
- initial costs is higher

This statement really doesn't hold water.

Not really, My isurance didn't go up one bit going from my 4x2 to a 4x4. Gas is actually little better than my 4x2 and I actually paid less than some of the 4x2's they had on the lot.

If all other things are equal between a 4x2 and 4x4 then the 4x2 will get better mileage and will be faster...4x4's are heavier and have more parasitic loss even when in 4x2 mode.

4x4's do cost more in insurance...get a quote online from anywhere and you'll see. If yours didn't go up maybe the 4x4 is older than your 4x2...or some other factor along those lines. Did you move to a county with a smaller population?

4x4's cost more initially (again all things being equal),cost more to maintain, cost more to repair and cost more to mod. I loved my old 4x4 but with the locker I had in the rear I didn't use it more than a handful of times...even in the snow. It was sure handy when I needed it though.
