Default 02 4.7 to 03 5.7 swap in progress...

some think i'm a little nuts, and that might be.

but i blew the headgaskets in the 4.7 after having 145k on it. i found a 5.7 out of an 03 2500 with 36k on it.

ordered the in cab wiring harness, engine wiring harness, ECU, TCU, 03 1500 gas pedal, 03 1500 cruise control module, chassis wiring harness and fuse box, 03 1500 motor mounts, etc.

so far the engine is out and the new one is set in the engine bay, the motor mounts will be in monday and i'll start replacing all the wiring in the entire truck. pictures will be up soon.

it's not that bad, i got the engine, tranny, transfer case, engine wiring harness and ecu for $1650.

the other harnesses and random bits have run about $600ish so far. but i put in 16 iridium plugs in there as maintenance and am going to replace all the coil packs with the 6.1 hemi valve covers and wiring plus coil packs.

i think all said and done i'll have about $3,000 in it and over 100hp more than factory plus an engine with only 35k miles on it.

That's not a bad deal. Hope the install goes smoothly and post pics if you can!

Hopefully you can get some $$ back by selling your 4.7 to somebody who can make use of it.

I guess the trans your going to use has 145k on it. Too bad you couldn't get the whole package and replace everything.

it could be, but this is already enough on my plate. trying to finish this during my last term in a triple major. this next week is midterms and then i have 5 weeks to get everything buttoned up, finished and ready to roll.

tht and i'm also the head of porsche for the NUIAS and we have our show coming up in 2 weeks...

but for future reference, is the NV5600 a direct easy swap on the 4x4? excluding the fact that you'd have to install a clutch slave cylinder, new pedals again, part of a new ignition, etc?
