Default Grille / Lights Question

I have an '05 QC with the chrome grille/ honeycomb. I was wanting to put two of the KC slimlites (either 100 or 130 watt) behind the honeycomb mounted on the crossbar in front of the radiator. My Q is this, are these lights too strong and will they melt the honeycomb? I had the standard 6" KC's before on an old chevy and they get really hot when on. I wont be having them on for extended periods, maybe 5-10 minutes at the most. If this isnt a good idea what would you suggest.

You know, that is a great question. I never thought about that. I want some lights back there, and it would suck to have them melt. But nice to hear that it won't melt.

No issues at all with having them there. One of the best mods for these trucks.

I had been wondering where people had been mounting them. I thought about making a bracket that comes up from the bumper bolts so the lights would be directly behind the grille or if people were just using the crossbar.

Well, I guess that decides that, KC makes a good light. Now, one other Q. My truck is black with the chrome grille, should I get stainless or the black. Black would blend in with the honeycomb but the stainless would match the grille. Also where have you guys mounted your switch? Any pics? Thanks

I'd go with the black so when they are off they can't be seen. I have the chrome grille too and that's what I would do.

Here are some pics of my set up. These are 4.5" lights. They are 55 watt Halogens. They do a nice job of lighting it up. There are stronger ones out there, of course. I am installing the OEM fogs as well, so there will be plenty of light. Thanks.
