CAI install and warranty
Im looking to drop a K&N into my truck soon but I'm worried about my extended warranty being voided if I install the part. Does anyone know the specifics about this? Thanks.
If you are worried about it, I would say whenever you go to the dealership for any warranty work to just put the stock air intake back on. But if thats too much hassle either ask the dealership about it but also the dealership has to prove your Cold Air Intake caused the part failure.
K&N says it should not void your warranty and if the dealer has an issue, contact K&N and they will try to help you out.

The dealership does not have the authority to void your warranty based on the Magnusson Moss Act. Look it up. It basically says that an aftermarket part can only void your warranty if the manufacturer can prove that part caused the problem. In other words, they can't blame a water pump going out on a CAI. Look up the law, read it, and understand it. Do NOT rely on the dealer to interpret it for you. Obviously, they will try to blame unrelated problems on your modifications simply to get out of covering them. Be an informed consumer and know your rights.
K&N is usually very good with dealerships thats why most of the CAI they sell are more expensive and you dont have to change the tune for them to work. Unlike my mustang I had to put a tune in it for the CAI to work since it changed the airflow...
Thanks for the replies. The owner of the performance store by me said it shouldnt be an issue but I just want to be totally sure. I might call the warranty company as well.
