Default My 08 Ram has race car suspension!

I took a peek underneath the front end of my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 and was absolutely floored.

I expected a coupla torsion bars, maybe a recirculating ball steering, you know, truck stuff. And instead, I find coilovers and a rack and pinion?!?!

When the heck did this happen? Am I just being captain obvious? I'm thoroughly impressed at what is supporting and steering the front end of my truck. I remember wanting to do coilovers for my Saab but decided against it cuz it cost too darn much.

2006 was the first year. 02-05 had torsion bars.

Ford ditched the torsion bars on their 4x4's in 04. My 01 had them with no problems. I guess they are a dying breed.

Please clarify.....Are you upset or not about your suspension?? A lot of loyal Ram owners were pissed because Dodge moved away from the bullet proof off road suspension set up Dodge was known for. Dodge Ram was the last 1500 that was stout enough to plow snow. Now Ram 1500's cant plow snow.

Very impressed. That's some high tech stuff underneath my Ram.

I'm still a fan of solid axles for trucks though, that woulda been my first choice. That's why I love Jeeps.
