You could build your own skid plates.

I bought the OEM skid plate from my dealer and installed it myself. The skid plate is actually 2 pieces - a cross-member piece that spans across the frame and another piece that goes from there to the tranny cross-member (which actually protects the transfer case). Two things to mention here... the plates are pretty strong and heavy but the pre-tapped mounting holes in the frame are poorly done. The threaded portion of the hole is only as thick as the wall of the frame and there is not enough threads to torque the bolts down. I ended up stripping 6 out of the 8 holes as well as the bolts. I had to force in course threaded bolts and use lock washers but I am still not happy with the way they tightened up. They should have spot welded nuts on the inside of the frame, then there wouldn't be a problem at all. This is on a '08, maybe other years are different.
