So i have some performance mods for all u guys out there who seem to know much more than I. I have an 08 5.7L 1500 and am looking to do some of the typical bolt-on mods for performance.

So, i was kind of just wondering what the best setup is for exhaust as far as sound and performance. I see some brands make a 3" exhaust, others a 2.5" exhaust, soem brands with chambered mufflers others without. I want to just go get a custom one built but was wondering what size pipe and type of muffler, any suggestions?

Then who makes the best intake? I am leaning towards k&n because of the name and the HP gains.

Lastly, anyone recommend any brand of headers over the others? dynatech? edelbrock? gibson?

I would suggest a Volant CAI, its sealed box and pulls air down away from the engine. as far as exhaust i opted for the summit 3" catback, its not expensive and sound great. also i have the superchips flashpaq, adds a few more ponies but diablosport predator make a tuner thats probably better.

 

The factory exhaust is 3". Magnaflow makes the most power, but they are revising the 08 kits because Dodge changed their cat-converter suppliers for 08 and they have to make some revisions.
As for the intake, just use a Airaid M.I.T. pipe. This will remove the restrictive Hemi Hat silencer. The stock airbox flows more than enough air.
For actual power gains, get a Diablosport Predator programmer from www.diablosport.com and 4.56 gears. You won't gain but maybe 5hp from the intake and exhaust mods.
Also, loud exhaust with MDS sounds crappy.
