Single Over Head Cam times 2 heads = a camshaft OVER EACH head. Something Chrysler was kicking around on the drawing board when Ford came out with their 427 SOHC, just never built one.

I don't know what year your truck is. Go to this web site http://www.airram.com/ Nick has several options for replacement cams for the 4.7. I bought the high output cam. It requires no computer tweaking. He also offers several grinds on cams for the 4.7. You just need to get the superchips programmer, also for them to work properly. He specializes with the 4.7, so they have a lot of parts for our trucks. If you have any questions about parts for the 4.7 you can drop Nick an email, and he'll get back with you. If you look around you'll see him on the forum. If you can't or don't want to do the work any ASE certified mechanic should be able to do it for you. You just have to look around for a good one. Good luck

Doesn't Chrysler have a 4.7 HO conversion kit, I think it came with the cams, computer and something else. Anyone know?
Edit: look here http://www.wjjeeps.com/ho_engine.htm

I haven't seen a complete kit. I think you have to buy the parts seperate. I'll have to find myself one of them there HO manifolds togo with my cams. I'll probably do it when I replace the throttle body.

the original poster said he 'towed a bunch'

I do not know of an aftermarket 4,7 cam
that improves torque in the 1500 to 3000 RPM range
where most towing is done

the Dodge 4.7 HO cam improves high rpm power
but hurts low rpm torque
and does not have a good 90% torque range ... very peaky

I am sure a custom camshaft grinder could tailor a
4.7 cam re-grind for improved towing performance,
and this profile might yield
a slight 'daily driving' MPG boost as well
