Default Can a 1500 carry a ton of cargo??....

Yes it can - I tried and it did. I drove real slow and took back roads just to be safe, lol. Would those add-on helper style leaf springs help in this type of situation? I normally get 1 ton pallets of wood pellets at least 4 times a year.

I measured from the top of the fender well to the ground and there was a full 4" difference when they loaded this pallet on. As the fork lift was lowering the pallet I saw the truck sink lower, and lower, and I almost had second thoughts.... but I made it home fine (and I will be very toasty this winter)!

Not good for the truck, but sure it will roll down the road. Sure does feel different with that big load in there huh?

Wow. That brings the front of the truck way up. Helper springs or airbags will level out the load but it's still over capacity for a 1500. Handle well for you? How far did you travel with it?

The front end looks a lot higher because I have a ReadyLift leveling kit on there.

Believe it or not the truck drove and handled as if there was no load in the bed at all - aside from having to press harder on the gas to go up some hills. I used my father's F150 4x4 last year to get pellets and I noticed a bigger difference with his truck - it was swaying and I could feel the weight when stopping. Not so with my 1500. I was impressed.

Get a set of air bags, that way you can deflate them and have a stock ride when you are not carrying a load like that. The add-a-leafs will make bounce you all over the road with no load in the bed...

It's good to know that a 1500 is superior to an F truck.

I hauled 1700 pounds of flagstone in my truck no problems, I was over my "capacity" and had no problems. I'm fairly certain that most manufacturers under mark their trucks' capacities so that they are legally not responsible in the case someone finds that limit.

Here a pallet of pellets is 2800lbs, 70 bags at 40lbs each. I have carried this in my 00 ram sport 1500 but I haven't had the chance to haul it in my 08 qc 1500. I will in a few weeks though.

Wow... now I want to see a picture of that! These pallets are only 50 bags @ 40lbs ea. I wonder what the worst could happen.... broken leaf springs?
