Default Question about base stock 17" steel wheels

I have a 2008 QC 4x4 with the TRX4 package. It comes with the 17" alloy wheels. I just went to buy some winter tires and wanted wheels as well. I told the tire dealer I wanted the base 17" steel wheels from Dodge. I was given a price and went ahead with the order. I was told it would take a few weeks because Dodge was back ordered.

Finally, I get the call that they are in and the tires are mounted and ready to be picked up. I went and got them and didn't notice till I got home but the wheels seem to be some standard OEM 17" steel wheels made in China. They are not the five spoke design steel wheels I have seen on the base model RAM's.

Does Dodge make any other steel wheels for the RAM other than the five spoke ones I have see? I ask because I think the tire dealer just went ahead and used some standard OEM wheels because he couldn't get the others. I really wanted the one's from Dodge. These look ok, simple black but it took about 3-4 inches of weights on one for them to balance. That is nuts for a new wheel.

I just want to make sure I am not wrong before I call to complain.

Is it possible you were thinking about the look of the 17 in aluminum wheel? Best of my knowledge there is only 1 style steel wheel from the factory. Take a look in my gallery for my truck the day i bought it. It came with the 17 alum wheels.

No, I am sure it is a steel wheel I am thinking of. It looks like this one http://arrowtireandwheel2.com/2162.jpg , but comes painted black or silver instead of chrome.

The "base" steel wheels you asked for are the ones that look like a spare wheel, which I assume are the ones you got. The 5 spoke steel ones (usually chrome plated) are in fact an option, usually grouped with the sliding rear window. So, I think you technically got what you asked for, just not what you were expecting.

The wheels you got are like the ones that came on my dads 03 SLT. He always wished he had gotten the alloys like these:

These are probably the rims you wanted:

nextreme, they do make a rim like that, and it is silver. Those chrome rims are really just a chrome cover over a steel rim. You can but the cover on Ebay.

Granted these are caked in mud...but they are the chrome plates over a black steal

but i always liked how they looked.

is this the style you were looking to get though?
