Default throttle body cleaning

Iwent to clean the throttle body this weekend and idk if your supposed to clean behind the flap, but when i pushed it in and wiped inside the rag came out with like a black grease. I just left it and hooked the intake back up for now. Is this normal?

Grease or carbon? The cleaner mixed with carbon can make a greasy looking residue..

I agree with SeVeReDiStOrTiOn on the greasy residue due to solent interaction.
Either way, you must get rid of all that gunk to fully clean your TB.
Not only that, but reach down into the intake, being EXTREMELY careful not to drop anything in there, and wipe away until clean as well.
Use a small tooth brush to remove stubborn deposits and take the cleaning solvent to the rag/brush and DO NOT spray all over the TB liberally. This stuff can and will screw the electronic module on the end of the TB. Gently push the blade open so you can clean all around the blade edges.
Always ALWAYS keep the black electronic module upmost to avoid solvent leaking into it.
Also, when finished, do a TB calibration.
Switch the truck to ignition on then press the gas pedal 5 times fully down and up in sec intervals.
This tells the PCM where the TB fully closed/open is.
Hope this helps?
Al.

I recommend taking it off as I did before. Then you can spray the cleaner in and the gunk you refer to will roll off. No to mention you can spray from the back side of the TB. Once again this is why your should take it off.... It is 4 bolts, 4 minutes of time.

Correct, if I recall 4 bolts, sensor cable and the throttle cable. Take less than 5 minutes to pull off.
