Vibration problem with 2007 Ram 1500 2wd
I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 2WD, 3.7 V-6, automatic transmission, 2-door, short box, SXT package with 17,000 miles. It's developed a vibration that starts at 20mph and continues no matter what speed your driving. Most noticeable at 25-28mph and 48-58mph. Although constant, the nature of the vibration seems to cycle and vary in intensity while driving at a constant speed; you can feel EVERY bump in the road, as well. Sometimes it feels like a vibration, sometimes like it's shuddering. You can feel it in the seat of your pants, and by resting your hand on the center fold down seat.
Otherwise, the engine runs smooth, transmission shifts like silk, braking is smooth, and tire alignment is perfect.
Here's what I've done so far - (none of which made a difference)
1. Had all four tires inspected at a professional tire shop (Les Schwab). They are in perfect condition and balance. Also had them rotated.
2. Two techs from Les Schwab's suspension shop drove the truck and confirmed the vibration. They put it up on the rack in the suspension shop and went through everything: shocks, springs, bushings, tie
rods, ball joints, and checked the u-joints and driveshaft. Even pulled off
all 4 tires and re-balanced them. Couldn't find a thing wrong. They
didn't have a way to check the driveshaft for balance, though. (That will be my next step, I guess.) Good news is that they didn't charge me a cent. They had no suggestions, but it's got them really wondering what the cause is, as well.
3. Had the truck in to the dealer where I bought it. Their diagnosis was a "hung up" valve body??? They reconditioned the valve body and flashed the ECM and updated with new software. This didn't solve the vibration problem, but the engine runs smoother.
Any ideas or suggestions as to possible causes/solutions will be appreciated.

I understand the OP truck has low miles but a jacked U-joint/dinged drivedshaft could be a place to start.
General pricing should be ~100-125 to replace two u-joints and balance the driveshaft. thats with you pulling the shaft and taking it to a driveshaft shop. It IS technically throwing parts at a symptom but you have to start somewhere.
Dont rule out a hammered engine/tranny mount.

This seems to be another problem like the "Hemi Tick"
My truck also vibrates at 65-70 mph and like the rest of you I have brought this up to every shop and shad tree mech. and still no answer but my opinion...
Power rack in these trucks are prone to going out and blowing seals all the time and in the past I have had cars/trucks have the same shake at variable speeds and they were cause by a bad rack.
So blame it on the rack and no there is no upgrade for the small racks in these trucks only stock or reman replacements. As long as it is not leaking anything out of the rack dont worry.
