slotted rotors,anyone?
well, getting ready to do a rotor and brake job,and just wondering are slotted rotors worth the extra money? i know that some drilled ones will tend to crack sometimes.
if you have did them which ones did you use,and how did they hold up? any recommendations?

Id stay away from them. A friend of mine put them on his camaro and they were warped within a few weeks. Granted, he drives like a maniac and abuses his car, (he built it up alot and drives it as it should be), but i personally find that unacceptable to warp in a few weeks of installation. Just my .02
my oem ones are warped now. i hate the vibration when you hit the brakes.
what size rotors do we have? 13.9?
you wouldnt happen to know which brand he used? i have heard that the cheap ones will warp quickly, but if you get some of the more expensive ones from a reputable company it will be ok.
i was hoping that someone had good luck with a certain brand and could lead me in the right direction.

Slotted ones are perfectly fine and would be a nice improvement. Drilled ones do tend to crack primarily due to excessive heat/stress and then cooled immediately. I was checking out summit and they had some over priced rotors that I seen, however they carry Cragar brand that are Cryogenic enhanced http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
I put a set of el' cheapo's on my cobra and haven't had any troubles at all. Those were 88 rotor brand off egay. They were not zinc coated, I had to do it myself(would reccomend getting a coated set)

I used to have slotted rotors from SSBC (Stainless Steel Brakes Corp) on my old Dakota and they stood up pretty well. I'm not sure if they make them for our trucks or not right now, and they tended to be more expensive than standard brakes. I'm not sure if they were truly worth it in the end, but I didn't have any problems with them.
I was checking around when my rotors where warped and found rotor from napa that are drilled and sloted for about 15 to 20 dollers more than standerd rotors i got them on my 2003 and got about 15000 miles and so far so good

I have drilled and slotted and use ceramic pads.
I have no problems at all with them.
I bought them off a dubious seller on e-bay, that said they were of Centric brakes origin.
They have lasted over 20000 without issue.
I have heard that the EBC slotted rotors and either Greenstuff or Yellowstuff pads from the same company are excellent!
