My indicator just came on in my '08 4.7L 1500. Read the manual and went through the procedure to turn it off. Gonna change it before the extreme winter months hit our area, which isn't for another month or so. It came on right around 2,900 miles.

Mine came on @ 2500 miles. I had it changed @ 3K for free at the dealer.

The Hemi has the oil life management also. Basically it monitors number of start cycles, driving conditions, etc and determines when you need to change the oil. Mine comes on every 2500-2700 miles regardless if it is freeway or city driving. I just take it to the dealer and they change it for free.

The reason I ask is that I've already done my "first" oil change, typically in my other oil life systems you reset the system...what do I need to do for this?

If your change oil warning is on, this is how you reset it.
Turn your key to run but do not start the truck. Floor the gas pedal 3 times. Turn the key off. Start the truck and the warning goes away and resets.

Well obviously you did not hurt anything changing your oil early. It looks like you have 2 options. 1. When the warning does come on, just reset it. 2. When it does come on, ignore it until you do your next oil change and then reset it so that they are synched up together.
The manual says to change the oil every 6k even though your computer will tell you to do it every 2700 or so.
If I wasn't getting free oil changes for the first 3 years, I would probably consider doing the oil changes every 6k and just reseting the system every time it went off. But since free oil is free oil, I change it every time it tells me to and let the dealer reset it.
