Adding a Factory remote start to a 2008 Ram?
I have a 2008 Ram. I can pick up a brand new Factory remote starter with 2 factory key fobbs for $200. This is a genuine Mopar product. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with installing this in the 08's? I believe the 06/07's are diff. Do I need to get my ecu flashed for compatibility or can I just do some cut/splice action to install and the book technique on programming new keys? Any help would be appreciated.
Can anyone help? Do I need to have the dealership reflash my ecu or can I do this myself? I have installed keyless entries and starts before, but am uncertain on these chrysler cars. Thanks for any help
I have an '07 that I'm trying to determine these same things. There are multiple part numbers, etc, and I haven't seen anything concrete.
I did read something that said the dealer needs to program the ECU w/ the starscan tool, but I don't know if that's accurate or not.

My dealer quoted me $350 for the two key fobs remote start and INSTALLED.
I will be having them install it, to me it's worth it for a little extra! Plus they cant say anything if there ever should be warranty coverage concerns.

I called the dealership and this is correct. Once you disconnect the factory Anit-theft module and replace it with the remote start module, it wipes the ecu clear of the key fobbs and renders your truck useless and unstartable. The kit itself is $200. That doesn't include any installation. My dealer quoted me $500 for the complete install. Little too much for me just so I can retain the factory key fobb all-in-one. Also, from what I hear, the range on the chrysler remote starts is horrible. I'm gonna go with Viper for 2-way remote start for under $350 installed.

if the keyless remote control wasnt part of the damn key, id go ahead and buy aftermarket, but it would look silly having 2 remotes on 1 keychain.
Im very frustrated with my mopar keyless entry, it hasnt worked since day one. but sadly havent had the time to get it checked. any suggestions at to what it might be? or was it just not set up yet?
