I used to own a 1982 CJ7 Laredo and I could take my jeep way more places then I can get my Ram. I can still take my Ram most places, but I could get the jeep in some pretty hairy situations that I wouldn't even think of taking my Ram.

But not less they are both Very fun off road!

XJ wheelbase/weight advantage FTW!!!

I wouldnt even think of taking my Ram over anything more than a few groundhog hills. 20" wheels and IFS do not belong off road.

They both have their purposes and advantages.

OffRoad though, i would take my Cherokee in many places i wouldn't even consider my RAM.

going to have to agree the Jeep would leave the RAM stuck quite a while back..wheel base, traction, size, the Ram would be stuck between the trees while the Jeep went right through. I traded in my '06 Grand Cherokee w/ lift for my Ram and the Jeep had been offroad a few times at a local offroad park, I couldn't image taking the Ram there. Now it's pretty tough to get a load of firewood, or drywall home in the jeep though!

I built my ram to run with the jeeps. The jeepers get pretty bent when they can't follow me.

The poster that mentioned the aproach and departure angles was spot on and the other most important factor is traction, followed by traction and then traction.

The short wheel base is great for jeeps in most sittuations however hillclimbs favor a longer wheelbase by far.

Gotta go with the Wranglers. They are the greatest off road vehicles ever, in my opinion. Gotta love a CJ. Iwas about to get a wrangler, but hadd to go with the ram. However, any other jeep wont beat a ram.
