I kept the wheels on, but you must remove the wheel liners. I actually used the tops of the wheels as kinda a crude work bench. But I'll say this, there can't be an easier vehicle made to remove exhaust manifold and install headers. As chefred says, everything is right there. Only have to do about half the install from underneath and the other half from within the wheel wells...

Hammer Z71, will the Cat have to be relocated? Right now I have a Magnaflow single in dual out muffler, would it be better to switch to true duals? In saying that, I still need to be able to pass emmisions, will I be able to?

Long Tube headers do give you the biggest gains, but remember that putting in LT headers will mean you need to do something with your cats, either get rid of them or relocate them. Some sort of trip to an exhaust shop will likely be necessary after you put LTs in.
^^

so getting rid of them is not an option for you. Hammer had to move his about 18" or so towards the back of the truck, extend the O2 sensor wires, and he switched to some muffler shop y-pipe instead of the super restrictive factory one.

He was able to do it himself,, but I don't get the feeling cutting pipe and welding is something you want to do in your driveway.

You can pass emissions with true duals. the cats are located right after the headers, and there is an O2 sensor before and after each cat (4 total), so at that point your truck sees a dual exhaust anyway. As long as you have decent cats on there (factory, magnaflow, etc..) you'll be fine on emissions.

Thanks guys, you have been a big help. I ordered my new headers and CATs this morning. I also broke ground on my new shop this weekend, so no more fighting these mods outside in the driveway.
