The so-called Hemi hat is a fairly useless piece IMO. Like you said, the air just bounces around in there. At least this smooths it out some. I did do a bracket underneath the first part. I used that mounting screw for the hat thing. I need to come up with a little better one, though, but it'll hold for now. Thanks for the input everyone. Not sure what kind of filter came with it, but I will probably replace it with a true K&N eventually. You can get one about that size for around $40 or so. Cool. Later.

Secured the pipe and added a K&N filter. Not sure what the other brand was...

How does the O2 sensor actually attach to the aluminum piping?
You say you bought a gromit....want to explain how you attached the sensor to the gromit?

thanks

Grommet goes into the tube.... sensor goes into the hole in the grommet!! Do me a favor.... when you start slowing down... around 25ish MPH/1000 RPM. Listen for a noise that sounds like a nitous purge. I did the K&N two weeks ago, getting a weird noise. Runs/sounds great though!

I figured....gromit into hole.....sensor into gromit.....
my point is...how is the sensor attached??? is not like you stick it and it "stays" there

Basically, yeah, you stick it in and it stays there! I drilled a hole and put the grommet in there. Actually, it is a PVC grommet for a Toyota! (RICE)
Anyway, the air temp sensor fits right in. It is a very tight fit. I shoved it in and it stays.

I did hear a little more swish with the K&N, and it is not quite as loud as the other one. Although, it is still very loud at WOT. I do like the sound. You can hear it, ya know? I have not done any kind of MPG test yet. I keep putting my foot in it just to hear it! LOLOLOL

I just received a new Thrush muffler today, so will get that installed hopefully this weekend. I have to see how the time goes.

Hank - what do you mean? It was actually very little labor, and what is there to guess? Smooth pipe = smooth intake of air. Good filter = good air coming in. Is has to be better than stock!

As long as I have worked on my vehicles, I have always replaced the air intake systems and the exhaust systems, and have always had success. Easier in and easier out has always worked for me. I have never had a vehicle stay stock and probably never will. My wife says I am a big kid! LOL
