Default How to get rid of ticks.....

I put most of a can of seafoam in the crankcase, drove the 30 miles home. Drained the hot oil, filled a new Mobil1 filter with Royal Purple and filled her up. Started her and its gone!!!!!!
I will be towing my boat to Florida in a couple of weeks so I should get a real mileage test,
Steve

Maybe the tick was there because of old dirty oil? Seafoam is merely a petroleum distillate (kerosene). It just cleans up residue/sludge. Most of the time, residue/sludge quiets down engine noises unless the noise is coming from a sticky valve.

Chrysler has known for some time how to correct
"Hemi tick"
but so many engines and $ are involved
that they are afraid of issuing a recall or TSB.

They have a solution that your dealership can find
by checking their
"Star Online" computer data base
for solution number
K59926684
or K21050787

The ticking problem is that the valve guide internal diameters are too big,
and the solution involves putting in new valves with oversize stems.

If you are still under warranty
Chrysler will pay for this,
but if you are out of warranty
it is a very expensive repair.

The Sea Foam was not a bad idea, great for getting rid of sludge, but I doubt it did anything for the tick, I'm sure it was the RP. I've had the Hemi tick almost since day one and after switching from Mobil 1 to RP it's still there, but a LOT quieter...

My tick started about at 500 miles. I'll leave it alone until it gets pretty bad. I'll never run out of warranty as long as I own it. Lifetime powertrain baby!

I did notice that the engine is running a little cooler since the flushing and oil change. Maybe engine operating temp has something to do with the tick....My truck has 84000 miles on it but has apparently been very well maintained by a dealership. Everything is stock - even the plugs and oil filter. The old oil looked pretty clean so I suspect it was serviced just before it was sold - 2500 miles or so ago. Still runs like a scalded cat !
