it 1000 mile report
Our hemi already has 1140 miles on it, even though we only bought it's not even but about 8 days old from when we bought it. My dad just took it on a trip that was 350 miles each way and averaged 15.8 miles per gallon comming back and 16.1 going there (mostly highway). It has about a 26 gallon tank, making the trip on 3 fill-ups and 3/4 tank still in it.
The truck is as we expected it, with everything operating flawlessly. The lack of a tailgate guard on the top makes it more likely to be scratched, and running boards would be a really nice idea.
What we don't like about it is that it is a long reach to the stereo, and there aren't any audio controls on the steering wheel. It's a royal pain having to reach over to get to the channel change and volume ****. Also, the front cupholders should be in the flip-up console, those are also a long reach away to the dash. Being that a large portion of the trip was in the dark (he left at 4 AM yesterday morning), automatic headlights would be a big help, but the 2 minute delay after shutdown helps in nulit parking lots. The rhino lining was taken abuse very hard, as he had his manual crank forklift layed down, as was his lader, and neither moved around he entire trip. The road noise is a little higher than suitable, but since most of it is the hemi seeping through the firewall, it's not that bad. The glovebox could be a little larger, but I guess that's what the center console is for.
