Driving in snow takes practice and good tires. I wouldn't go any wider than say 265's in deep snow unless you are running snow tires with studs. A good AT tire will work well in the snow, but if it gets really deep say over a foot then wait for the plows. 4x4 will get you in trouble in snow and ice so keep it in 2wd unless you get stuck. An old rule of thumb is that a 4x4 will get you stuck farther away from home than a 2wd. So with that in mind use 2wd and if you can't move around safely STAY HOME or you may end up in a ditch or worse.

When driving in the snow stay off the gas as much as possible letting the truck do the work, down shifting when going down hill or use the tow / haul switch. Maintain speed when going uphill by increasing speed BEFORE the hills. Gear down when possible when breaking using the brakes as little as possible. Rule of thumb is SMOOTH as possible.
