Long Tube/ Check engine light HELP!
Hows it going guys. well i am new to this forum, i am usually on the turbo mopar ones for my daytona; but i have a problem with my 06 Ram hemi. The first and most annoying thing is i went out and got a pair of the pacesetter long tubes and put them on. I then got a set of cats with the o2 sensor plugs at the end of them. All of this is 3" diameter from where the headers collect throught the cats, y pipe to the muffler. I did have an exhaust leak for awhile since i did clamps but then welded all the pipes up with no holes. I keep getting a check engine light for excessive lean condition in the aft o2 sensors. Is this because of maybe another leak or since the diameter of the piping is larger than stock it thins out the exhause from expansion or from added volume from the headers? what am i to do? I will check for leaks again but i dont think i have anymore. The other thing is when cruising do you guys get an annoying sounds like engine straining noise and sounds like lifter ticking? i had a straight 6 that sounded like this. Just wondering the engine only has 40K and it makes wierd noises from when i get to just cruising around. Thank you guys very much i am going to look at it some more. -drew
I've got the Pacesetter Long Tubes and have yet to get a CEL (well, at least since I welded the stock cats back in and extended the sensor wires about a foot and a half). I also have all 3" Pipe from the collector back, so your problem is not the headers or pipe. You may want to check again for leaks.
The sims may work, another trick you can do is to install a colder thermostat, like a 180*, I was running a little lean with the headers, CIA & tuner (which advanced the timing) all contributing to a lean state. Not enough for a CEL, but lean nevertheless. The cooler T-Stat will "fool" the PCM into richening up the mixture a tad. This may be enough so that your O2 doesn't send a lean code.

That seems pretty cool, i think i am going to try checking for leaks first. It might be because i didnt use any gasket sealant on the header but i will check my welds again. If that is not the problem i will try the thermostat and hopefully that takes care of it, but what is the sims. i guess simulators but where do i get those from? thanks guys -drew Oh and do you guys get any wierd ticking noises?
