Default Low on Power Steering Fluid?

Alright, when I start my truck up in the morning I let it run idle for about 10 mins and then drive to school. When I take turns my steering makes a weird noise, the odd thing is, after the engine is warmed up, I cannot hear this noise when I turn, only when the engine is cold. Is this the engine adapting to the colder weather or is something up with my power steering?

Thanks

I'll take a look at the level of the ps fluid tomorrow, also I noticed some drops on the driveway but I wasn't sure they were from me because I there are 4 other cars on and off my driveway at different periods of time

If you notice drips I would definitely take a look at the level. Low PS fluid can cause what you are talking about, and if you leave it too long, you can blow the pump. If you're lucky, it's just a hose and fixing that and topping off the fluid will have you back on the road. At worst, it could be like my old Dakota and the pump may have gone - that was easy to find on mine because it threw PS fluid all over the engine.

I had the same problem with the power steering fluid last year around this time and had to bring it to get fixed, I'll check the ps fluid tomorrow. It's gotta be the colder temperatures thats screwing something up to make it leak.

Alright I just checked the power steering fluid and when I took the dipstick out of the power steering fluid box nothing even touched the dipstick. I looked in the holder for the fluid and I was able to see some fluid in there but I'm not sure how much. So what should I do? Call the dealership?

i had the same problem. my hose went. if you can fix it then do it but if not just have someone do it, not an extensive fix at all. In the morning after i warm up the truck and drive for just a few mins the steering is alittle louder but its been pretty cold here in the morning and it goes away right away.

If it's not touching the dip stick it's low look on the stick there should be a cold mark and a hot mark fill it in between atf+4
