Default 30K service price?

has anyone had their 30,000 mile service done at a dealer, and how much did it cost you? My dealer quoted me $625 yesterday, which sounds ridiculous...

Those service intervals are among the biggest scams ever. They tell you that you Must get them done or you void you warranty. It's bullsh*t. As long as you maintain your vehicle your fine. If you just changed your oil, then you won't need that. They replace your air filter which may not be needed. They charge you for all these checks and lubrication which are done at most oil lube places for free. They probably charge you for a new belt, they may say your power steering needs to be flushed, new fuel filter, crap like that.
Now, you should have your differential fluids changed and transfer cases for 4x4. That would be the only thing you will need to get done! You can get that done at an oil change lace as well for half the price. You will want to flush your automatic transmission at 50-60kmi or if you have been doing a lot of towing I would get that done at the 30kmi along with your diff fluids. But you must get those diff fluids changed!!! That's the biggest culprit of those bad LSD's that everyone complains about. If you maintain your fluids those LSD's should last. If you've got limited slip. Even so, you need to change your diff fluid every 30kmi

In the manual they say to do diff fluid every 15,000 miles. I got a mailer from my dealer a few months ago w/a coupon for diff fluid change. I think they wanted 90$ for a 4x4.

Yeah it's more when you tow. Wow, my Silverado was every 30kmi and platinum plugs were 100kmi. The differential had synthetic right from the factory! Dodge doesn't use platinum plugs? Damn, there's 16 of those suckers too.

Regardless what the manual says 15kmi for normal use is ridiculous and not necessary. I'll be changing mine at 3kmi and then not again until 30kmi. However I will be using sythetic.

Copper plugs fire hotter and and they use two per cylinder to keep the emissions down.
My 01 F150 had 100K plugs and 100K differential fluid changes.
