Default Window Scratches

I own a '03 1500, And my windows are getting scratched to hell! i tinted the windows almost a year ago and the film is all scratched up now. I first noticed some scratching of the window when the car was quite new. But i didn't really pay any attention to it, thinking it may just be a little dirt and the problem would go away. however now its just getting worse, and i have also noticed slight scratches on my rear window tints also, i can't re-tint the car until i have a proper fix since this is just going to happen again and again. Is there a fix for this problem? is it just a problem with '03's. better yet has anyone had such a problem. Please help. I am new to the forum.

So is this factory or aftermarket tint we are talking about? If it's aftermarket you should never use any cleaning product with ammonia.

Thanks for the welcome Gilitar This is an after market tint, and i have made sure to clean it properly. the scratching is being caused by the actual mechanism, i just don't know what it is, and why its happening. I have a friend with the same tint on his '05 SRT-10 and he has no problems so Dodge has obviously righted the problem.

I don't know what you mean by TSB. I heard somewhere that there could be a problem with the rollers in the window mechanism. i want to confirm if this is the problem. or if anyone else has had problems with '03 Rams having their windows slowly start to get scratched.

There was a post about this along time ago. Our trucks did not come with felt on the inside of the window weather strip. I've heard that we can take it back to the dealer and they are suppossed to fix it. I haven't tried it yet because of I am too busy all the time.
Here is the TSB on it.

Ezhemi: Thank you very much. Now i can go back to the dealer and take care of this once and for all. This problem is so bad, it left a mark on the driver side window. I think if i hadn't put in the tints my windows would start to get scartched up. Anyways thanks again.

I have the same problem and I am taking it to the dealer to get it fixed this Saturday. The service manager looked up the TSB and ordered the required parts. The fix is covered under warranty but they will not replace your scratched tint.
