Default Truck Trend article on Ford SFE

Truck Trend did a blurb on the Ford SFE (Superior Fuel Economy) during a review of the new F-150. The specs on this pickup are special low-rolling-resistance tires and a high 3.15 axle ratio.

They are rating it at 15city/21highway. They don't mention what engine it has.

That gear ratio is ridiculous. You have to be able to propel your pickup down the road first to be able to get economy. I wonder how many Ford buyers will buy this to haul their trailers with good econ? LOL

I'll pull up alongside them at the pump and ask if they want to race.

Please, please, please tell me how you are getting those fuel consumption figures on your truck!!!!! My 5.9l is doing 10.9 urban and 13.5 freeway!!!!!! That is the worst freeway MPG I have ever had in my life! I really try to be easy on the pedal on long journeys but it doesn't seem to help. When gas was at $4 a gallon I was spending more cash on fuel then I spending on my house! Thank God it's down to $1.89, I can actually afford to eat!

5.9L has the worst fuel milage of anything ever driven on the planet. Must just be the way its engineered but I have always heard that the 5.9L is just pure crap when it comes to mileage. I know its only .2 liters bigger than our 5.7L though. Maybe compression ratios are crappy. Not sure. BTW, the SFE gets only one more mile per gallon highway than the regular 150 does. it should have been called the JATBMFE. Just A Tad Bit More Fuel Economy. LOL.

It's design is now where near as efficient than the Hemi. Mainly in the head flow and power to weight ratio.

LOL! The SFE stuff is just too funny! Thanks for that! If it wasn't for the emission laws in this country I would have thrown all the emission garbage in the trash by now as that stuff kills economy! in case you are interseted I wrote a post on this in the Horrible fuel consumption thread. All of my previous experiences with improving mileage.
