Any one know how to remove the shifter ****?

I have an 05 with a manual trans. I wish to change the shifter ****. How in the world do you remove the ****? I have heard of things being hard to remove but what does it take to get this thing off?

If it's like the 05+ Dakotas, you have to use a knife or something to pry the shift pattern label up, which will expose a long bolt that holds the handle on the stick.
