Default Current capacity of the 7 pin trailer plug

Hi Dodge Fans, I just bought my first Dodge, a 2008 Ram, 2500 Cummins,4x4 Quad, Longbed. I am wondering how many amps one can pull from the 12v coming out of the 7 pin trailer connection? Is it enough to run a 1000 lb winch? The Warn 1700 will pull 44 amps at full capacity, but with a lighter load and a ****** block, about 15-20 amps is all it should pull. Any help would be very nice.

Oh, I am pulling an Airstream with the new truck. The motorcycles will go in the bed, lifted in by the winch.

Thanks much, Msmoto

I would have to say that's pushing it and you might melt the wiring. I believe the wiring is only 16ga possibly 14ga. That's not big enough for the length of wire that it uses to go all the way back to the truck. You will probably melt the wire since it's such a long run if it's borderline acceptable.
Why not just run a power lead all the way to the battery? It's not that difficult. that way you can have a seperate fuse and all and have the reassurance that nothing will happen to your trailer lead. I'm gonna say that 7pin is good for maybe 20amps but I'm thinking 15
