This is gonna stump everyone.
Wheels are a big get-out clause for insurance companies! If you don't tell them and your vehicle is stolen they will argue the fact that the wheels made it more desireable to the bandits and they won't pay out! Lift kits are a big no-no! If you don't tell them they will say that the lift kit makes the vehicle more unstable, more prone to tipping over and overstress the baraking system etc. etc. Tell them in writing and they CANNOT argue the case.
Good Luck Keep us posted!
Whats 14"s long and hangs in front of an @$$ hole????
A lawyers Tie!

And you pay $4k!
I though tmy premium was high at $800/yr and am switching so I only have to pay $550/yr for my 08 with $250 deductibles

I have my DD car through Geico. I just scroled through the 40 sum odd pages and there is a section for Custom or Aftermarket installed parts. NOW, they say they will pay out if those items are added to your policy, however here's where you will get them....They simply say that they will not pay out to any parts that were not added to the policy. Now, that means you won't get any money for the air filter since it's all wet. There is nothing in the policy that explains they won't pay for damage done by an aftermarket part that hasn't been authroized!!!
Think abut this...You just bought a new set of wheels and tires. They are a bit bigger than the old ones and rub on the inner part of your wheel well. You don't realize it's cutting away at the tire and it blows apart while your going down the highway and you have a bad crash. What they won't pay for is any damage to the wheels because you didn't report them, but they will pay for any other damage to the car! HA! Who'da'man....lol
Ohh, it's in section III #5 for the definition and in the pages it just states that they won't pay out for custom parts beyond the cars value.

Good luck...... you're definately going to need it.
And more than likely, you'll get nowhere without a $$$$-lawyer-$$$$
Most policies won't cover modified vehicles. When the be-autch at State Farm noticed the plow on my 2nd gen, I got a letter about 2 weeks later. It stated my vehicle would no longer be covered unless I paid the the additional adjusted amount (it damn near doubled) on the enclosed ammended policy.
At the time I had been with S/F for 15 years, and had 3 other vehicles, 1 motorcycle and my home owners insurance with them. Never had a problem with a few claims I had on stock vehicles.
Needles to say, I checked around and ended up pulling all my insurance from SF. Not only did I not have to pay a doubled amount on the plow beast, I got identical coverage for less money than before they noticed my plow. Got more coverage on the house for less money also. When I went back in to get the refund on my cancelled policies, it pissed them off when I thanked them for trying to screw me...and actually saved me money.
At any rate, operator error is not a defect in materials or workmanship, so yeah, forget the manufacturers warranty.
And in all honesty you are probably SOL with the insurance company now that they know about the CAI.
Should have thrown the stock intake back on and played innocent.
Live and learn......gonna cost some major change regardless.

Insurance does not have to pay for it bc they insure your vehicle, they dont insure your modification. Unless you can prove to them that cold air has nothing to do with the hydrolocking engine you are stuck. they will hold there position and will not pay and the lawyers wont be able to do you any good unless you find a lawyer who is a mechanic as well.
You guys are missing the point of the insurance claim. They WILL HAVE to pay it because how does anyone know that it wouldn't have happened even with the stock intake? You don't. It's not like the CAI was sucked up by the motor. He said he went off the edge of a driveway into a ditch. That's covered regardless. That's like saying I changed my air filter to a K&N now my insurance won't cover the damage to my motor because of the water. That's ridiculous.
At that rate, I would put your stock intake back on and buy a K&N filter. Say that you were calling that the CAI system....lol I'm sure they haven't come over and taken pictures yet, not until they decide to pay.
