I have a 2008 Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 and am looking into a new exhaust system BUT have seen something that is confusing me.

I've seen 2 different exhaust systems by Magnaflow for my truck, but one is for the Solid Front Axle (SFA) and one is for the Independent Front Suspension (IFS).

Excuse my ignorance but which suspension do I have on my truck? I'd assume it's the IFS but want to make sure I am looking in the right direction.

Any help is appreciated.

You have the IFS. Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks have solid axles.

 

Thanks for the response, while I was waiting I went and just looked under the truck and realized there is NO pumpkin there so it's gotta be IFS.

Someone else had told me that but I like to be 100% sure before I buy anything....thanks again.

 

If there is no differential at all then you must have a 4x2.

 

Maybe I just didn't look hard enough, it's cold as hell outside today...it's definitely 4x4 though.

 

All 3rd Gen. (2002-present) 1500 series 4x4's have IFS with the only exception being the MegaCab...
