I have an 08 QC 5.7L with 20's and 3:92 gears and synthetic oil and a K&N air filter. I don't believe for one second 23mpg unless you've got a 6cyl

Doesn't matter to me whether you believe me or not. I know what my truck has gotten, and I know WHY my truck has gotten it. I was actually on a pretty damn hilly road going home, doing between 60-65 with the cruise set, and my average went right up to 23. It's not that difficult if you're driving easy with the cruise set.

One more thing I forgot to mention, I also have a tonneau cover on it. And yes, it is a 5.7 Hemi.

Then if that were the case Chrysler would be posting that all over their ads. It's not so get with the facts. I could care les if you are fooling yourself, but that's as far as it goes.
A tonneau cover does nothing to improve mileage. Leaving your tailgate does nothing to improve mileage, the only thing that does is make your box flimsy over time. Both of these have had numerous independent studies and have been proven not to effect mileage. The front spoiler on the bottom of your bumper will effect mileage more than the tonneau cover. Towing mirrors will effect the mileage and wider tires will have more effect than a cover.
Also, I get better mileage on my own than with the cruise set. The cruise especially on hilly roads will let the truck go down in speed and then rev the engine much more than if you had control of it yourself. Gradual acceleration on hilly road will get you the best gas mileage ceretainly not using cruise control.
Even if you had Longtube headers, catback, cai and a specific tune, i wouldn't believe 23mpg. I would only believe that if you had a supercharger!

Again, I'm not telling you to believe me, because I don't give a rat's ***. I know what my truck has done. I'm not telling you to believe me. My driving has allowed me to see 23mpg on the hwy. Period. End of story. I'm not arguing with anyone about it, because I KNOW what I've seen. You guys can sit here and bitch that I'm lying all you want, it doesn't change the simple truth that it HAS happened and I CAN most certainly see 23mpg hwy in my truck. And this was while the truck was 100% stock. I just added dual glasspacks yesterday, y pipe was cut out and true duals all the way back.

When someone asks me what my mileage is I dont tell them what the trucks computer tells me. I fill the truck up and set the trip. Then after a road trip or after a week of around town driving I fill up and DIVIDE MILES BY GALLONS!!!! I saw on here one time somebody calling this the "OLD WAY!" WHAT???? I call it the ONLY WAY! Why I dont give a dang what someone says they're "Getting at 65mph cruising" is because if I'm going down a BMF hill and shut the engine off then I guess I'm getting infinity miles to the zero gallons using that same method of looking at the on-board computer. Right???? Yeah my computer I've seen it read 21 MPG on a flat road no wind with MDS working. BUT I dont tell people my truck trips at 21 MPG. I dont care what anyone wants to think in their heads, your mileage is total miles logged divided by total gallons burned and no person driving a hemi will EVER see a number out of the teens. Sorry if anyone thinks this isn't subtle enough for a first post. HA!

Umm, the computer on our trucks does not give instant. It is only average. At least, that's the way it is on mine, so I know that on a long trip in my truck set at 60-65mph, I will get about 20 or better mpg. Again, I don't need anyone to tell me what I know. And yes, I do know the old way of dividing miles by number of gallons. So what is your point? That you can do math? Big whoop.

Yes it is an AVERAGE. But what people do is reset it as they're driving along at 65mph and then it IS instant and they say their truck gets 20-whatever miles per gallon. So, you are saying that since your truck AVERAGES 20 mpg or better then you must be getting into the high 20's at times to achieve that as an average right?

No, I'm not saying I AVERAGE 20mpg per TANK! I'm saying, that if I were to take a road trip, and I were doing 60-65mph the whole way, I could average over 20mpg. And, yes, I had reset the DIC because I had just filled up. I drove about 4 miles to get to the gate, had 3 stops before I got on the main stretch, set the cruise when I got on the main stretch, and voila, average went up to 23 while I was on the main stretch. Again, I REALLY don't care if you believe it or not, just because you're too impatient to NOT drive like a crazy redneck doesn't mean I'm that impatient.

And I'm saying no you couldn't. Sometime when you know you're going to be on an interstate highway for a significant amount of miles, reset your AVG. mileage indicator and when you get home and your computer tells you that you averaged 21 mpg you will find that filling it up and doing the math will show you that that thing is full of s**t. Just try it sometime.
