They just lift up and drop down. They only can lift up so much and still stay really close to the ground. The brackets often get trashed because people try and move large amounts of snow and they are not made for that. A big truck like the Ram could do some damage control on the frame of those things. They are really meant for smaller trucks like rangers or dakotas.
Mine lifts almost 2' off the ground. I've stack snow 3'+ high (can even see some in the pics)....no bent brackets.

I like that plow. It looks like it gets that job done.

2' really? I wonder if it makes a difference on the initial truck height? My uncle had one on his Ranger and it would only lift roughly 1' high.

And yeah, the frame isn't that chincy when you compare it to everyday use metals, but compared to what it's bolted to, then yeah it's chincy...lol

I dunno....The hydro formed steel frames aren't exactly heavy duty. Have you ever crawled under there to take a look? The crsuh zone that the plows (bars or whatever else you mount on the front) bolt to is GREAT!!! lol
Not to mention the 3/32" steel it's made out of.

At least the 06+ has replaceable rail tips available.

plowing will beat the crap out of any truck, regardless of how "heavy duty" it is. i might be in the market for a commercial snowplow within the next year or two. instead of putting one on my 1500 i might buy an old wrangler or something cheap to beat on but make money with.
