Default question on ride hight

i have a 2wd 2006 1500 single cab and i dont do much off road riding with it but i do use it to get to fishing holes and hunting spots. just recently i went to a spot that when going up i steep hill i bottomed out and bent a section of the bed right by the cab. so just wondering what a good lift and ride hight would be for it? also a suggestion on tires. I know i know if you want real off road get a 4X4 well this is what i have to work with so any help improving please let me know.

thanks guys

Tires get you clearance and the lift will get you the tires. 35"s are around the biggest you might think about for a half ton if you're hard on the truck but if you don't plan on jumping it and beating it like a red headed stepchild go for 37"s and a 4" or 6" lift to fit them. Also look into getting some rock rails to protect your body sides and a good locker for the diff will help you as muck traction as a stock 4X4 with open diffs.
