i hate my 4.7. i can hardly run 65 on the highway in 5th gear without it downshifting on flat ground. usually with the cruise set at 65 it will wind out in 5th then drop to 4th then back to 5th. pulling my 3500lb trailer it stays in 3rd even at highway speeds. about the only time it ever sees 5th is going downhill. the reason i got it though was that the hemi i drove was a pig. not sure about flat out power but when pulling out from a stop you had to push the peddle down about an inch before the truck would move. my step father has an '07 with the hemi and he says his doesn't do that so it must've been an issue with that truck.

get a programmer and it will help on the shift points and it will not down shift soo often. you can choose between 3 levels, 87 tune, towing tune and 91 performance tune. its a good investment to have even if your not looking for performance because you can read and clear cel (check engine light). like i stated earlier with exhaust, cai and programmer it has really changed the truck for the best. when i hti the gas it gets the power rigth away no delay anymore.

I have a 4.7 and I love the truck but every time I see one with a 5.7 hemi in it drive by me and hear how much more throaty and meaner sounding the exhaust is I wish I had one...

Then again one of my friends has a 5.7 2x4 and gets like 9 MPG and I'm getting 11-12MPG hahaha....Still kinda sucks though....you think exhaust, intake and a fitch fuel catalyst would bring it up to like 14 at least, and of course it all depends on how you drive.

im getting 14 average with mostly city driving with intake, exhaust and superchips 3815 on 91 performance setting. i am pretty hard on my truck too. but thats just in the winter in the summer i usually average 15-16. i believe the winter blend gas here in new england is the culprit behind crappy winter gas mileage.

I like mine, but when I'm pulling my small (4000 lb) camper I want a bigger engine.

I like it. I wouldn't mind having a different truck. But If i did it would be a F-250 with a 7.3 diesel.

eh.. id love a hemi, but i got my truck for a deal. it would be nice to have a little extra torque, not to mention my gauge in my truck says 11.6 mpg when regular cab before me was getting something like 14.

For the 08+ 4.7's maybe, but bolt-ons won't give you the 110bhp you'd need just to keep up...unless you call a blower and some spray simple mods . Depending on the driver i'm thinking a 08+ 4.7 with a 6-speed will walk an equally equipped auto hemi though.

I have a 08 4.7 and am pleased with the performance. I installed the AirAid MIT tube and at WOT it really sounds good with a nice growel to it. The mileage so far seems to be anywhere from 14 to 16 MPG but then I only have 2800 miles on it so far with a 60/40 mix of Highway/City.
