MDS is not that bad with a stock truck but once you put an exhaust and intake on it it sucks!

What is Diablo

Would you suggest driving with OD off in City?

Doesn't the throttle by wire "learn" our driving habits and if the previous owner was a light foot, wouldn't he be feeling what the throttle thinks it should be doing?

personaly I drive with OD off untill im up to 45mph or more, keeps the MDS from stepping in
and rpms in OD are not much different with OD Off..

And the MDS works by throttle % and load from my understanding..
Hell on the Highway mine dont kick in except on downhills, with my tires and wheels.

I'm going to try OD off this morning on the way to work and see if what i'm feeling goes away...

I have Regular gas in it now.....I'll fill up with Mid -Grade too......Does the gas choice make a big diff?

That's fine if you can find gas without ethanol in it. In MA, all of the stations have 10% ethanol in the gas because Massachusetts requires reformulated gasoline. Since MBTE is no longer used, they basically are forced to use ethanol.

The throttle is electronic, no linkage between the gas pedal and the engine

No, it does not idle in 4 cyl mode. MDS usually kicks in around cruising speed. Different people report different numbers, but my MDS would kick in around 25 if I was at a steady cruise. I never felt it below that. If you are feeling a miss at 10 mph, then you probably have a miss and need to get it looked at.

agree. I'm not convinced your problem is MDS, or i'm interpreting your description of the problem incorrectly.

If you are driving in the city with stops at lights or signs and such, MDS is most likely OFF. If you suddenly decide you need to accelerate, MDS will turn off. if you are idling or driving slow (i guess under 25 from frog's experiences) it's off. it's also off in tow/haul mode.

if you still feel the miss under any of those conditions, it's not the MDS. look in the Do It Yourself section. there is a way to install a little light that tells you when MDS is on/off, real easy to do. Might help you pinpoint your problem.
