Default MDS HELP PLEASE!!!! 2008,1500 5.7Litre

Hi Guys,

I'm new to this form...actually, any form.

I just bought a used 2008 Dodge 1500 with 5.7 Litre Hemi...It has MDS. It has 30,000Kms on it.

When driving slow in the city I feel like I have a "miss" up to about 1800 Rpms....Then I feel POWER...

Is this Normal for a MDS engine? Should I actually feel a miss kinda feeling?

OR....Is there actually something wrong with the truck....

I'm running Regular Gasoline...Good/Bad?

Can you please e-mail me directly at newfie_200@yahoo.com as I'm not quit sure how to retreive messages here yet....

Thanks,

Phil

Run 89 that's what the truck is designed for, and you will have a lag when the mds is kicked in, you can get a programmer to turn it off if you wish.

With the RPMs being that low and the truck feeling like its "farting" a power surge...id say thats MDS kicking in, nothing to worry about. Just to set your mind at ease, while rolling in town put it in tow/haul mode and look for a difference.

To add to what Tanz said, make sure the 89 you are running is NOT 10% ethanol...ethanol is crap and will hurt your milage.

So, I should be feeling a bit of a miss up to 1800 RPM's with MDS? Is it running on 4 at that point?

So the felling of a "miss" i'm getting under 1800 Rpm's ypu think is the MDS running the engine in 4 Cyl's...

Does Tow/Haul Mode or OD/Off shut off MDS?

Yes, in tow/haul or with OD off the MDS will not kick in

I'm assuming that when you start the engine, It goes right into MDS when Idaling?

So when you strat off in the morning for example and start rolling down the street...You are running on 4, as 8 are not required? If you punch it....You go to 8 right away?

Do you ride with OD off in City?
